Is Joomla or WordPress Better?
It depends on your needs. Joomla and WordPress are simply tools. It is definately better to think from a marketing perspective and establish an objective first before you even choose what tools to achieve that objective.
I have been asked quite a number of times with regard to this topic, which can be quite heated up, especially for those who are emtionally attached to any particular platform. Before I go into the any comparision, I want to say one thing.
The question one should be asking is, "Which platform should I use for my website based on my website objective?"Whether it is Joomla, WordPress or any CMS, it is simply a "TOOL"!
As an Internet Marketer, the most important and essential step is to identify what is the objective of your website. All this is done through market research before hand. Once you identified the objective of your website, it is selecting the tool (i.e. platform) to address the objective of the website.
Think Long-Term, Not Short-Term
Not only do you need to think short term (i.e. now i want this) but also medium to long term (i.e. what i want in the future). Take for example, a company wants to create a blog as a means to broadcast articles and to improve traffic for their main website. At this point in time any platform will do, with more weight on WordPress as it is reputed more for blogging. In fact Joomla can do it too
BUT looking forward, Social Medial Marketing is currently THE very hot buzz with companies around the world, especially where Web 2.0 and moving on to Web 3.0 is concerened. Having a platform to able to cater to that possible expansion would definately be useful.
Does your website platform have the capabilities to expand?
Lets say for an example, you have a sizable group of people who constantly comes to your blog and give construtive comments. It might grow to the extent that a community is being built and that is where the platform you have needs to have the capabilities to be able to expand to cater to that need.
On top of having the capabilities of expansion, I personnally like having the flexibility to move different components of a website around without any coding knowledge and the flexibility to split test a website is another essential point. How about changing the theme based on the season or theme of the month?
Taking into consideration of your objective of your website and the features you want on your website, choose the platform that caters to that need.
